Flying home.

World Water Day is Friday 22nd March. This week and next I’ll be asking folks on Google+ and Twitter to share their water related photos, especially regarding how water is important to nature and humanity. To kick off the week, here’s mine.
For more information see the United Nations World Water Day website. See my PhotoShelter portfolio for more water photos. The photo below was taken at the Clyde River, in Batemans Bay, Australia, which represents leisure use of water. Unfortunately the nearby fisherman didn’t want to pose in the photo to show more of leisure (fishing) as well as food, because he hadn’t finished making his sand castle, which he was going to use to impress his bikini clad mermaid girlfriend who was drinking an imported designer brand water.

Demonstration for marriage equity in Sydney – Images by Andrew Blyth
I had time to stroll around Sydney and Darling Harbour for just one afternoon, and completely by chance this group were holding a demonstration. They chanted “Julia” as ‘Joooliaa’, and there were other chants, too. Julia Gillard is the current Prime Minister in Australia. On the evening news I learnt that the Labour Party were holding their annual conference and on that same day it seems that Ms Gillard had submitted to pressure and allowed Labour Party members to choose to support a bill which would allow same sex marriage. That is to say, she herself does not support the bill, but she is not publicly, or explicitly going to block it.

I thought I would have made a few posts by now, but I’ve been a bit too busy. I’ve found it hard to get out and about, partly because of the rain and the dull lighting from overcast days… excuses aside, I’ve put together a small sample of what I’ve got so far. Later I’ll properly process these images when I get back to my main computer back home, in Japan, then I’ll let you know where you can purchase these from. Enjoy.
Update, these are now available at http://www.photoshelter.com/user/ablyth
It’s official. I’ll be going to Australia. I’ll be there for all of February, and half of March. I’ll spend but a fleeting glance in Sydney, and be spending much of my time in Canberra. I do hope the weather will be mild and pleasant… Let me know if there’s anything I can do in that part of the world.
